The New York City Challenge Showcase was held on February 8, 2012 at SWIFT’s NTC offices. 14 of the world’s most promising FinTech and Financial Services startups presented their businesses to an audience of dozens of the financial industry’s most influential innovation executives, early-stage investors and press.

All 14 Semi-Finalists, which were selected by a panel of expert judges from over 100 applicants, spent an afternoon building relationships with qualified customers, partners and investors, while the attending executives and investors gathered new insights and partners to drive their innovation and investment agendas.

Top startup & top innovator:

P2P Cash Technology, the Top Startup, and Gust, the Top Innovator, selected by audience vote, were selected to present at the 2012 Innotribe Startup Challenge Finals at Sibos in Osaka, Japan in October 2012. The other 12 presenters joined Semi-Finalists from Challenge Showcases in Singapore (April 24) and Belfast (June 14) in an online judging round where professionals from SWIFT’s 9700+ member financial institutions selected the 9 additional Finalists.

Feedback from the NYC Semi-Finalists

Innotribe was the perfect platform for us, the smaller crowd made it possible to truly engage and build rapport with potential partners and investors during the networking sessions. The audience were experts in the industry who asked very insightful questions and followed-up with feedback on potential solutions.  Also, it was great to meet peers who are developing new technology and business models that will improve security for the industry, make capital more accessible, and serve as the bridge for the new generation of investors and savers to engage the financial system. - R. Jerry Nemorin, Lend Street Financial

We met key industry leaders at Innotribe that re-affirmed our business model and potential to reduce fraud. Our presentation resulted in key meetings with SWIFT participating banks and other innovators in the market ready to learn more and begin implementation. The feedback from judges was amazing. I really helped us fine-tune our business market opportunity. - Eliott Klein, XYVerify

The entire program was smooth and professional. The energy and enthusiasm of the organizing team was particularly noticeable, appreciated, and helped keep things moving on a productive, positive path throughout the day. As we met several potential investors and partners, participating in the Innotribe Challenge as a great use of time and I would recommend it to other start-ups. - Kate Dolan, Emerge Workplace Solutions
